Open Shelving

Having trouble accessorizing your open shelving? Here are a few tips to help you out:

  • When choosing items to place on your shelving, bring in a variety of heights, textures and materials to create an interesting focal point in your space

  • Mix and match the usage of your open shelving. Use baskets and bins to hid the item's you don't want to display, while mixing in decorative accessories, photos and books so the shelving unit is aesthetically appealing and functional

  • When placing books in open shelving, place them vertical and horizontal. Also mix in other accessories so the books aren't too over whelming for the space. You could also place the main majority of the books on the bottom shelving so they don't visually weigh down the unit

  • Update your current shelving by changing the color or material of the back paneling. You could wall paper this area, use a feature color or mirror to add more light into your space
